Where did your brain go?
You walk into a room and forget why. You lose the word mid-sentence. You reread the same email three times and have to remind yourself to really focus on the forth.
If you are quietly terrified this is early dementia, take a breath.
For most women in their late 30s and 40s, this is perimenopause.
Estrogen is not just a reproductive hormone.
It is deeply involved in memory, focus, and word recall.
Your brain runs on estrogen, and when it swings, your cognition swings with it.
Add broken sleep and a dysregulated stress system, and it's no wonder that word-finding and focus take the hit.
But, I want you to know that this is not permanent, and it is NOT you failing.
Here's what helps:
→ Protect sleep first. Foggy mornings often start with fragmented nights.
→ Move your body. Walking increases blood flow to the brain and steadies mood.
→ Lower the multitasking. The fog gets worse when you split your attention.
→ Fuel the brain. Protein and steady blood sugar beat the 3 PM crash.
One small thing I want you to do this week: Pick one daily task and do it with zero multitasking.
Notice how much sharper you feel with one thing at a time.
A resource to help you through this season:
→ Take the free Perimenopause Pattern Check to see which system is driving your symptoms.
And be sure to send this to a friend who needs some clarity as well.
