Let’s clear a few things up. Because there’s a lot of misinformation around this phase.
One of the hardest parts of perimenopause isn’t just the symptoms.
It’s the confusion.
Women are trying to make decisions about their bodies based on mixed, outdated, or incomplete information.
So let’s clear a few things up.
Myth #1: Hormone therapy is dangerous
This is one I hear all the time.
The reality?
For many women in their 40s and 50s,
the benefits of hormone therapy—like symptom relief and long-term protection—
often outweigh the risks.
That doesn’t mean it’s for everyone.
But it does mean fear-based avoidance...
isn’t always the most informed choice.
Myth #2: “Natural” automatically means safer
I say this as a physician—
Natural is not always better.
I’ve seen:
→ Kidney stones from excessive supplements
→ Liver issues from herbal overuse
→ Unintended side effects from stacking “natural” products
Supplements can be helpful.
But they still require guidance.
Myth #3: Perimenopause is just hot flashes
I wish.
For many women, the earliest symptoms are:
→ Brain fog
→ Mood shifts
→ Sleep disruption
→ Irritability
Which is why so many women don’t realize what’s happening at first.
Myth #4: Everyone will be miserable
Also false.
Some women have minimal symptoms.
Others don’t.
The difference often comes down to:
→ Awareness
→ Support
→ How early changes are addressed
Myth #5: Hormones are the only solution
Hormones can be life-changing.
But they’re not the only tool.
Lifestyle factors still matter deeply:
→ Sleep
→ Nutrition
→ Stress management
→ Movement
Because this phase isn’t one-dimensional.
And the solution isn’t either.
If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed trying to figure this out…
You’re not alone.
This is exactly why I created REwritten—
